FAQ

  1. Election Day is November 3, 2026. Polling locations are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Anyone in line when the polls close is allowed to stay and vote. Individuals arriving after the polling place has closed will not be allowed to vote.

  2. Request a Texas absentee ballot here. Voters in Texas must provide a reason for needing an absentee ballot and follow these instructions to submit their form. Applications for a mail-in ballot must be received by October 23, 2026.

  3. If you are registered to vote, find your polling place here. You can only vote at your assigned polling place.

  4. You’ll need one of the following forms of photo identification:

    • Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
    • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
    • Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
    • Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
    • United States Military Identification Card containing the person’s photograph
    • United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph
    • United States Passport (book or card)
  5. If you are already registered to vote in Texas and have moved, you may update your voter registration online.

If you live in the same county and missed the voter registration deadline, you may return to your old precinct to vote, but you will be required to complete a statement of residence confirming your new address in your new precinct.

If you moved to a new county and missed the voter registration deadline, you may be eligible to vote a limited ballot at your county’s main voting location during the early voting period. The limited ballot application will also act as a voter registration application. You may NOT vote a limited ballot on Election Day.

  6. Texas was the first state to require that all new voting systems be accessible to voters with disabilities.

Each polling place will offer at least one type of accessible voting equipment. This equipment allows voters with disabilities to vote directly on the system or assist them in marking the paper ballot. Depending on the type of system, voters with disabilities may use headphones or other assistive devices to help them vote independently and secretly.

To determine if accessible machines will be available or to request an accommodation, contact the early voting clerk of the county or political subdivision holding the election at least 21 days before the election.

  7. See a personalized ballot for your voting location.
